Turkey is delicious!

I bet you can figure out what my favorite holiday is!  It's Thanksgiving!  This is by far the BEST eating day of the year.  I have endless opportunities:  dropped food; licking plates; helping at the dishwasher...My grandfather gives me the MOST treats.  He might throw the munchkins, but I can find and eat them really fast.

Anyway, let's get back to Thanksgiving.  My Mom was taking this GIANT turkey out of the oven, and she DROPPED it right on the floor.  Well, I could hear and smell my chance.  I was there in a flash.  I got to eat some turkey, and since I'm such a helpful dog, I even helped clean up what was left behind:

I wonder if that turkey might fall again.  I made sure to keep an eye on it - just in case.

By the way, that's my cousin, Lulu the Dog.  She only gets my leftovers because my Aunt won't let Lulu even have any treats.  I feel really bad for her.  What would life be life without treats?

Like I always say, be on the lookout for any and all food-eating opportunities.  You never know when you luck is going to change.  My Mom might have been upset, but I wasn't.  I actually hope she drops more delicious meat when she takes it out of the oven.  I'm always available to help out!  Make sure to help out whenever possible - you never know what you might get in return!

Beach Time!

My Mom took me for a walk, and it was a HOT day!  I was SO thirsty.  Then my Mom took me to the beach where these little kids were in the water.  My Mom even let me off my leash so I could wander into the water with the kids:

Look at that GIANT bowl of water.  When you're thirsty, you want a BIG drink.  Well, let me tell you, this water tasted AWFUL!  YUCK!  AWFUL!  I will never drink out of this bowl again.

Like I always say, when you're thirsty, make sure you know that the water is REAL water - not AWFUL water.

Skunk Time!

The other night, my brother, Andrew, invited me to hang out with his friends on the trampoline.  How amazing is that!  I was having a fine time when I spotted a furry friend across the yard.  Now I have amazing eyesight, even at night, so I see EVERYTHING!  I decided that I would charge over to say hello.

OOPS!...my new friend definitely did NOT appreciate me charging over and sprayed me with perfume.  Now I LOVE to smell "bad" - at least my family thinks that it's "bad" - to me, I prefer to smell "bad."  It beats smelling all clean like I do when I go to Janet, the Groomer.

When I got back to the trampoline, everyone said that I was SMELLY, REALLY SMELLY.   I smelled so bad that Andrew woke up my Mom to tell her.  Well, my Mom was no help - she told Andrew to give me a bath with the freezing cold hose outside.  It was AWFUL.  Then my Mom said I could only stay in the TV room.  Then to make matters even worse, my Mom took me to get a second bath from Janet the Groomer:

As soon as I got home from Janet the Groomer, I went to lay down in the dirt.  TWO BATHS IN LESS THAN ONE DAY = AWFUL!   Talk about a day going from bad to worse!

Like I always say, take it easy when you're meeting a new friend.  Give the friend some personal space - otherwise you might smell "bad" like me and need 2 baths.  I hope this never happens again!  It was AWFUL!

p.s. I have made sure to spend A LOT of time in the dirt.  Who wants to be clean and smell good at the same time?

Dog Days of Summer & a Cat!

Hello!  It's the dog days of summer.  That means it's hot outside.  It's especially hot if you're wearing a fur coat all the time - like me.  In the summer, you get to wear shorts and short sleeves.  Me, I have to keep my coat on all the time.  It's a good thing that I have a nice place to lay outside in my front yard.  I dug up the grass so I can lay right on the dirt.

Later in the day, my Mom goes in the pool and takes me along to the backyard.  It's nice to have a change of scenery....except when this cat decides to sit in the next yard.  This cat just lays in the grass and stares at me.  First of all, it's not polite to stare.  Second of all, I'm attached to this swing so I can't even go check out the cat:

I don't even know who this cat.  Plus it's highly annoying when you want to check things out and realize you have to drag along a heavy swing - it's definitely not helpful.

Like I always say, keep an eye out for new friends.  I have some cat friends:  Midnight and Emerson.  I'd LOVE to make a new friend.  Maybe some day this cat will come over and introduce itself.  Of course, this new cat doesn't know my BIG secret:  I'm afraid of cats!  That's OK, I'm always up for meeting a new cat.  Try to be friendly today so you can have better luck than me!

New Friends!

Wow, I am the luckiest dog ever!  One of my Mom's students is going to be a guest blogger today.  That means I get to stay on my couch!

Hi, my name is Matthew.  My teacher writes a blog about her dog, and she said we can write an entry for the blog, too.  so I'm writing about my dogs, Abbey and Maddy.  Abbey is 10 months old, and she is a yellow lab.  She is 80 pounds and one foot and 4 inches tall.  Gabi is a black lab, and Abbey is a golden Labrador retriever.  Abbey, Gabi and my old dog, Maddy, have a lot in common.  They all dig in their backyard.  They like to roll in dirt.  They are all lab mixes and more.  There are a couple of differences.  Abbey is not a year old yet.  Maddy and Gabi are grown-up dogs.  Gabi is black while Abbey and Maddy are yellow.  That is all about my dogs, and who knows, maybe I'll write another blog entry in the future!

That Abbey the Puppy sure is a cute dog!

Like I always say, it's great to make new friends!  I've always wanted a cat guest blogger - anybody interested?

Dirt is the BEST!

Have you ever had to wear a fur coat when it's hot out?  Believe me, it makes you even HOTTER!  When it gets hot, I dig a nice hole on my front lawn.  Then I roll around in the dirt, and that cools me off.  My Mom thought I looked like my fur was turning brown, but guess what?  It was DIRT!  Then I needed to get cleaned off, and my brother, Andrew, decided to clean me like this:

Don't worry - my brother wasn't hurting me, he was gently sweeping all the dirt off my fur.  I LOVED IT!  If you've never been swept before, you should try it out - it's very relaxing - it's like getting a massage.

Like I always say, if you're going to get dirty, you're going to need to get cleaned off.  Don't worry - I make the place dirty enough on a regular day.  I'm always tracking in dirt.  Plus, my fur sheds all over the house!  All the dirt that doesn't come off, has to go somewhere!

Dogs are your BEST FRIENDS FOREVER!

My Mom seems to be laying on the couch all day.  She told my Dad she has this stomach bug.  I don't know what's wrong with that - I actually LOVE to eat bugs, especially when they're bothering me.

I can even make my Mom smile when she's sick because I give her LOTS of licks and attention!

Like I always say, when you're sick, who's there for you?  If you answered your dog, you're right.  Dogs will stick by your side in ALL SITUATIONS.  We love our families so much, and we love to be there for them no matter what.  Here's some great advice, if you need attention, get a dog.  You don't even have to tell us that you're not feeling well - we're so smart that we know.  HOW AMAZING IS THAT!

p.s.  I hope my Mom feels better so she can take me for a walk tomorrow.

My Visit to the Veterinarian!

When my Mom says, "Come along!", I am ready to go out the door.  I LOVE getting to go on an adventure.  This time we went to the vet.  When I first got there, I met a new friend, Charlie the Dog.  Then I got put on the scale.  After that I had to wait in this room:

I get very nervous when I have to wait for the doctor.  I look at the door so my Mom can tell that I'm ready to go.  I also put my tail between my legs to show that I REALLY want to go.  Of course, I didn't get to go until I saw the vet who was very nice to me:

Wow, going to the vet was fun - I got LOTS of attention!  I even got four shots, and they didn't even hurt!

On the way out, there was a cage on the floor.  I looked in, and it was a cat.  I pulled on my leash so hard because I really did need to go - I'm afraid of cats, and I don't want to get hurt!

Like I always say, it's important to take good care of yourself, and that means you have to go to the doctor.  The best part - doctors are really caring and nice.  They want you to enjoy getting your check-up.  Now I just have to learn to not be so nervous.

Let's Play "Where's Gabi the Dog in the snow?"

Every day I seem to be sitting on the front steps watching my Mom shovel snow.  It just seems to snow ALL the time.  Can you even see me in this picture?

I really miss eating sticks and sniffing the grass in my neighborhood!

Like I always say, make sure to wear a warm coat, like me.  I always go out prepared with my always-on fur coat.  My fur coat is coming in quite handy in this snowy and cold weather.  You won't hear me saying "Brrr."

When the Patriots win, I win too!

My Dad LOVES the Patriots.  That's why I have to wear that shirt that says "Patriots" on it - just in case you were wondering why I would wear clothes.  I have NO choice; when the Patriots are on TV, I'm wearing my shirt.  When my Dad is quiet (which means the Patriots aren't doing well), I take advantage and lay down.  When my Dad is yelling and jumping, I sit up and take notice:

I even wore my jingle bell collar for extra excitement!  The best part is when my Dad is watching the TV, he likes to eat which means EXTRA treats for me.  Even more important, the Patriots won so my Dad is in AN EXCELLENT mood which usually means that he's happy and might share more treats with me.

Like I always say, spend time with your family because you get to have company, and you usually get treats, too.  I'm always happiest and luckiest when I get to spend time with my family!

How I Wear Snow!

Today it is snowing A LOT.  My Mom and I went for a short walk, and then I had to watch her shovel.  Later my Dad came out, too.  While they're hard at work, I take my place on the front steps:

There's so much snow that I am turning white!  It's a good thing that I wear a warm fur coat to protect me from this snow.

I also explore:

Either way the snow manages to find me and turn me white.

Like I always say, be prepared for anything!  Make sure to have a warm coat like me.  My Mom told me that her students sometimes come to school on freezing cold days without a coat.  Take some advice from Gabi the Dog - YOU'LL BE MUCH WARMER AND COMFORTABLE IF YOU WEAR YOUR COAT.  Of course, I have my coat on all the time.  I sure am a lucky dog to stay warm even when it snows!

BEST Weekend Ever!

I just had the MOST amazing weekend.  Here's what happened:

My cousin, Lulu, the Dog, came to visit:

Lulu is a full-grown dog now.  I kind of feel bad for Lulu because she has to wear clothes to keep warm, and as you know, I don't think real dogs should have to wear clothes.  Also, my aunt won't let Lulu have any treats which actually works out better for me because then I get ALL the treats.  You do have to admit that Lulu, the Dog, is cute, and we get along well so she has that in her corner.

I finally got to go to the Dog Park!  Here I am running around with Rocky, the Puppy:

I can still run with the best of them!

I also got to play with Buka (he's the black dog with the red collar); Moe, the Dog, who's running; and that's Rocky, the Puppy, who's jumping on my head.   Let's just say that you can tell he's still a pup:

You can tell that my friends are very excited and happy to see me!

Later, a GIANT dog came to the park:

LOOK AT HOW BIG THAT DOG IS!  His name is Maverick, the Great Dane!  His owner says he weighs 150 pounds - that sounds like A LOT!

One of my favorite activities of all time is to roll around in poop at the Dog Park.  Unfortunately, my Mom doesn't agree with my choice so we had to leave.  She says I'm "disgusting."  Well, she shouldn't judge me until she tries it out herself!
Last, but not least, I got stuffed back into that shirt again:

Really?!?  Why doesn't my family get the message?

Like I always say, weekends are the best when you get to have fun and spend time with your family and friends.  I LOVE the weekend!  Of course, I make sure to enjoy every day because I know how lucky I am.  Make sure to appreciate how lucky you are, too!

My Mom loves me too much!

Here's another example of how much my Mom really loves me.  She has my picture in her phone again:

My Mom got a new phone so she put a new picture of her favorite dog right on her phone.  Now she can see me wherever she goes - how amazing is that!

Like I always say, keep pictures of your dog everywhere.  Dogs want to make you happy, and if looking at our pictures make you smile, then we're doing a great job!

Giant Bone = Not A Good Gift

I LOVE to eat food.  A GIANT bone that is too heavy to pick up and carry is not my idea of food:

My brothers gave me that GIANT bone as a gift.  I don't mean to sound ungrateful, but I do not like this GIANT bone.  I tried to pick it up, but it fell and made a GIANT noise.  I had to run away.  Then my Mom decided to be annoying and take a picture of me with the GIANT bone.  I don't want anything to do with the GIANT bone.  You'd think that she would figure it out already!

Like I always say, if you want to buy your dog a gift, do not buy a GIANT bone.  It is not a good gift.  What am I going to do with this GIANT bone any way?
